What is Natures Plus Herbal Actives Black Cherry Extended Release?
This is a review of Natures Plus Herbal Actives Black Cherry extended release tablets. Because of Black Cherry’s reputation for reducing inflammation, it has been touted as an ideal remedy for painful and inflammatory conditions such as gout and arthritis.
Natures Plus Herbal Actives Black Cherry extended release tablets contain only one active ingredient, Black Cherry and it has been formulated in such a way that it is said to maximize the benefits of the whole berry.
Like many purple colored foods, Black cherry contains a specific type of antioxidant called anthocyanins which are said to offer anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-cancer benefits and have been used to treat a number of conditions such as high blood pressure, colds and urinary tract infections.
Black cherries also contain cyanidins, also an antioxidant anti-inflammatory found in many types of red berries; and ursolic acid. While a number of potential biochemical effects of ursolic acid have been investigated, there has not been any substantiated scientific evidence of its beneficial effect on human health.
The formulation of Herbal Actives is such that it is said to provide fast and sustained relief resulting from its 24-hour antioxidant activity. This is apparently made possible by the Herbal Actives proprietary vegetable cellulose extended release delivery system that releases the tablets’ phytonutrients steadily over a 10- to 12-hour period. The manufacturer claims that this ensures up to 40% greater absorption and superior antioxidant activity – but it does not state what this is measured against.

Our Final Review Of Natures Plus Herbal Actives Black Cherry Extended Release
Don’t be fooled into believing that Natures Plus Herbal Actives Black Cherry extended release tablets is an all natural product. It isn’t. Black Cherry juice is natural and is gaining a reputation for a range of health benefits, including relieving the pain associated with gout inflammation. However, this formulation is filled with a host of chemical fillers, binders and anti-caking agents including stearic acid and magnesium stearate.
We were unable to find an explanation for the seeming disconnect between the recommended dosage for this product – one tablet every 24 hours – and the claim by the manufacturer that Herbal Actives Black Cherry Extended Release Tables provide “around-the-clock antioxidant activity”, when the manufacturer also makes it clear that the proprietary Activessence nutrient enzyme activation system “diffuses highly active phytonutrients for 10 to 12 hours of steady absorption”. What happens in the other 12 hours when there is no more release of the active ingredient – and the release of the full dose of the active ingredient can take yet 12 more hours?
Could this mean that users may find they need to take more than one tablet per day in order to achieve the desired result?
