What is BioSport CLA Max 2000?
Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a naturally occurring fatty acid that’s usually found in meat, milk and dairy products as well as some plants such as the Safflower plant. This is a review of BioSport CLA Max 2000, a high-potency formulation of CLA that’s extracted from Safflowers.
CLA is said to assist with weight loss, particularly the reduction of tummy fat. In addition, BioSport maintains that its CLA Max 2000 products will help you to maintain lean muscle, enhance your diet and increase your metabolic rate (which means you should burn fat faster); and also support a healthy body composition by reducing your body fat. However, the manufacturer indicates that the product works most effectively when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program.
Ingredients
- Safflower oil (Carthamus tinctorius Seed) 2000mg
- (which contains 80% CLA) 1800mg
Other ingredients:
Gelatin, glycerine, purified water, caramel color, titanium dioxide color
Dosage
The instructions on how to take CLA Max 2000 are very unclear. The container label states that a serving size is 2 softgels. However, the instruction states that you should take 2 softgel capsules daily, as a dietary supplement, with each meal. Does this mean that you should ideally take more than one serving of the softgel capsules daily – that you could take 4 or even 6 (if you take a serving with each meal)?
The container size is 90 servings, which appears to indicate you should perhaps take 3 servings (or 6 softgel capsules) per day, which would give you a one month supply. However, we would be extremely hesitant to recommend this as you would be consuming a higher quantity of CLA daily than that recommended by the scientific source quoted by the manufacturer – and a considerably higher dosage than most of the other CLA products on the market.
What is the Cost?
BioSport has reduced the cost of its CLA Max 2000 on its website from $27.99 to $19.99. We presume this is for a container of 90 softgel capsules, although this is not made clear. Other online retailers sell BioSport CLA Max 2000 for around $18.99 for 90 softgel capsules, but it was also possible to purchase 180 of these softgel capsules for $25.99.
Manufacturer’s Guarantee
BioSport will accept returns of products bought directly from its website only provided the company receives the returns within 30 days of your purchase, even if you have opened the product and have not consumed more than 25% of the container’s contents. Ensure you provide your Purchase Order number. However, you cannot just return the product – you must first contact the company and make the necessary arrangements, including receiving a returns authorization number.
Our Final Review of BioSport CLA Max 2000
BioSport cites “Prescription for Drug Alternatives” on its website which apparently recommends taking 1,000 to 1,500 mg of CLA before a meal three times daily to achieve weight loss. BioSport CLA Max 2000 contains more CLA (1800mg) per serving than that. However, the instructions provided on the container are unclear as to whether or not you should take a serving three times a day. If so, we have to wonder why you should take a higher dose of the active ingredient than that recommended by the scientific source quoted.
The product is quite expensive when compared to other CLA supplements, but that could be attributed to the higher dosage of active ingredient packed into each capsule.
